Histochemical Studies in Primary Liver Carcinoma
Abstract
The intracellular substance dyed with pyronine which was a procedure first reported by Berg in 1912 was later verified as ribonucleic acid. Since then many workers have studied the histochemical approach to cells to clarify whether the abnormal [metabolism and enzyme functions of the cells were related with tumor formation, but no definite conclusion has yet been found.
The writer attemped an histochemical study on primary liver carcinoma. The material .was obtained at operation either as a biopsy or a total extirpation of the tumor. At the same time, normal appearing liver tissue was biopsied for comparative study. 101cases of hepatoma and 9 cases of cholangioma were examined for this study.
